Your online political call-in talk show

Welcome!

Welcome to the America’s Debate Radio Blog!

Check back often to find posts by me, and also by Jaime as well.

I’ll probably post more about the hardware and equipment end of things as well as show production, and Jaime will probably post more about the content end of things (just a guess, really). We should end up with a nice combination.

We’re going to try to update the blog regularly, so be sure to visit again– for example on Wednesday, while you listen to the show. ;)

Thanks for reading!

Mike

Great to be the first commenter! (Commentor? Commentator?)

I was wondering how much time a week you have to spend putting together a show. It seems like a full time job to me.

    Hi VS!

Jaime does the showprep for the first hour. I’d say that she spends roughly four to six hours on it, usually starting on Monday evening and quite a bit on Tuesday evening. She really only seems to need to do showprep on Wednesdays if new news (huh?) breaks.

For the Allegedly News segment, I have twenty “odd news” sites that I have collected, and I check all of them each week. I spend about 3 hours gathering news and highlighting each week I’d say, usually at about 2:30AM on Wednesday mornings.

We have a little informal meeting each week before the show where we tell each other our stories for the week, and usually scrap a few of the stories I’ve collected for being inappropriate.

We also have off-air prep to do each week, including picking the music for the breaks, getting the news summary from Stefan, running through the pre-broadcast checklist, etc. I spend about an hour or so getting that together.

And when it is all said and done (or is it done and said for a radio show), we have post-show work to do. Jaime builds the summary, and I update the whole website. I create the podcast, update schedules, compress-save-upload the show, test, etc. That takes about 2 hours or so.

So yeah. Lots of time. But also lots of fun, so it of course flies by. :)
